Reading to Your Child Gives Them a Head Start
If pleasure alone were not enough to get you reading with your young ones, maybe this recent study out of Melbourne will convince you.
Bottomline: regardless of family background and home environment, reading to children (ages 4- 5) 6-7 days a week has the same effect as being almost 12 months older.
That’s how much of a head start it gives them.
Not to mention all the other wonderful things it brings, like time with their parents, imagination, empathy and love of reading. We would actually argue those are way more important.
